I gave up on American Idol a few seasons ago. The whole circus was just getting old.
The silly people they showed in the early weeks, that had no talent, but wanted their 15 seconds of fame... or whatever you want to call it.
Simon with his same old cutting comments that no longer resembled truth, just attention seeking, contest steering, ridiculousness.
Paula with her airy craziness, finally running out of adjectives.
And Randy, well, okay, I still like Randy. Dog.
I had no intention of watching this season. Until Stefano Langone. Turns out this kid went to my son's high school. He came and sang in their art class last semester. And he's got one hell of a survivor story after nearly dying in a car accident in May 2009. But you know what's more impressive? He can SING!
Sure he's got some good competition. But now I'm sucked back in, rooting for Stefano.
The other thing I find annoying? I was SURE I would hate this new line up of judges. But I don't. Steven Tyler rocks and I find myself liking Jennifer Lopez (minus her little mental breakdown last week).
Sigh. I need another show to watch like I need a hole in my head. Thank goodness for DVR and On Demand. And more importantly, Fast Forward. I most certainly don't need to listen to Ryan Seacrest.

Loves me some American Idol! I didn't think I'd be interested this year, Until they put Jennifer Lopez on as a judge, and that was all I needed. Love her! Steven Tyler cracks me up. He's just what they needed, too!
Now I have someone to root for. Stefano can definitely sing!

Yes!! I'd given up on Idol too. It's been boring me lately. But I so so love Steven Tyler and J-Lo. Their chemistry with one another and with Randy is wonderful. I'm sooo happy to like this show again. And I'm partial to Casey Abrams. I'd buy that guy's album TODAY.
I have been completely amazed by how much I like this trio of judges together. I didn't even really like J-Lo, but doggone it, she's a heck of a good judge.
And the talent this year is outstanding!
Did you read about the controversy re: the one guy who sang the Usher song last night?
My daughters are obsessed. I must say, I think Steven Tyler is hilarious to watch. Jennifer is more likeable than I expected. But I still find myself watching All Creatures Great and Small from the 1980's in my own room...can't help it....love it.... :)
