Unfortunately, I tend to do a lot of this:
You know, hanging on tight. Too tight, usually.
I'm practicing doing some of this:
Letting go. Relaxing the death grip. Giving up control.
Because while I laugh about being a control freak, that stuff isn't healthy. The only thing I need to worry about controlling, is me. Beyond that, trying to control too much causes stress. Too much stress causes ill health, both mental and physical.
Because instead of feeling like this when things don't go perfectly:
I want to feel like this:
After all:
Yes, I could have written a post about this, but I thought the images said it well.

Great images! And just what I needed - trying hard to ease up and let go on the Oldest... who got his license last week.
Wow, great post. This is one of my problems, letting go. Even when I don't have all that much to hang on to. I'm still a control freaky girl. I loved the way you organized this post. It was fun! Thanks Ally,
Love it, Ally! Great post. :)
I have come to realize that everyone is a control freak. I can think of one person ONE who isn't and I'm not even sure that's right since I only see her once every few years and exchange sporadic emails. The rest of us OMG.
I used to be a lot worse. But now I'm only a control freak when it comes to my career. I still manage to drive myself crazy in that regard.
But all the rest? I let go. And I don't miss not controlling every little thing.
I'm learning so hard to let go of my postpartum past...the thoughts, smells, feelings...all of it that makes me continuously feel like a victim...I want to let it go.
I loved the images. Man, do I need to re-read this one every now and then. :)
