Lazy Gun Fights - Are You Serious?

There's been a lot of local media attention given to an increase in gun violence in Seattle.

In one of the most recent, two men were shot, one in the leg and one in the side, after a "dispute" of some sort that one of them had with two other men.

They apparently got into a fight "over something stupid" in the parking lot of a 99-cent store.

Really, I'm refraining from commentary here. The story sort of speaks for itself, no?

A friend of one of the victims said this:

"People have gotten lazy. They want to just fire a gun when they should fight."

*I've got nothing but a blank stare, here*

Am I the only one that sees a problem with this kind of logic?

These folks are out there in our society. Lord help us all.

Here's the original article, complete with more quotes about how they should have settled the dispute with their fists.

*shaking my head*

I don't know, I kind of agree with the fisticuff guy. Used to, you'd just shove each other a bit, maybe take a swing, and then go home. Now people just want to kill you. In a utopian society, none of this would ever happen, but let's face it, we've kicked utopia in the teeth with our great big smelly carbon footprints.

Whatever happened to discussing one's differences like grown-ups? Isn't that what we're taught when growing up? Seattle is starting to sound a lot like Vegas...sadly. Wow. From what I hear from relatives in Atlanta and friends all over, this type of mentality is not unusual anywhere. Disconcerting, to say the least.

Seriously, sometimes I just think there's not a chance for us to evolve our intelligence. *sigh*

We've been called the most bellicose nation in the world. Tragic.
