This week's list is 10 Songs. And we can do anything we want with that. At first I didn't have a clue, but then my mind started thinking of titles I wouldn't include on any song list... and that became my list.
10 songs, good or bad, that have been overplayed into oblivion:
1. Celebration - Kool & The Gang (at every wedding without fail)
2. Barney Song - Barney (every parent with a child born after April-1992 has nearly committed a crime to keep from being driven crazy by this song)
3. Soul Sister - Train (there are plenty more that fit with the time frame of this one, this one just stood out)
4. Tainted Love - Soft Cell (I just dated myself as a teenager of the 80's)
5. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
6. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
7. 1999 - Prince
8. Macarena - Los del Rio (another wedding bomb)
9. We Will Rock You - Queen
10. And my newest addition to the list: Never Getting Back Together - Taylor Swift (while a few of the songs on this list are good songs, this is the worst. song. ever. - in my humble opinion)
There are plenty more I could put on this list. Maybe it means they've stood the test of time. Or that we should wonder about the sanity of society. Remember, I'm not saying they are all bad, so don't go all bunched-panties on me. And if you are way younger than me and this list leaves you going, "Huh?", just try to be kind to little old me.

Thanks for the chuckle, great list. I'd add Thriller by MJ, We are the Champians by Queen and Call me, Maybe for a more recent overplayed gem. Ah Soft Cell, good times.
Celebration always makes me smile. Even on the crappiest days!
You know what? All of those songs are overplayed. And thank you for calling Taylor Swift out on that awful song. I'd rather listen to Call Me Maybe three times in a row. Oh wait, I already do that. That song defines overexposure. :) Ellen
I think the Barney song is my "kill me" song. I just can't stand that revolting tune or purple pile of plush. *shivers*
An absolutely fabulous list. I agree with all of them except Bohemian Rhapsody...that is a classic.
Great list! I know they have been over-played, but I still love some of them. Stairway to Heaven and We Will Rock You. Love 'em.
I'm not doing the list this week...finals! But I do have one to add to yours. It's titled "Call me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen (had to google the singer) and if I've heard it once, I've heard it a million times. I want to reach through the TV screen and choke somebody. Seriously. Someone please put a sock in her mouth.
I love this spin! I totally hear you although some of these songs bring back memories. I'm thrilled I don't have to listen to Barney anymore!

I'm usually okay with some Taylor Swift, but I don't like that new one at all. We also have a strict no Barney policy in our house :)
Totally agree with these - although I've been lucky enough to never hear the Taylor Swift song. Can I admit that there are "overplayed" songs I never tire of, though? I love Walking on Sunshine, totally guilty of cranking up Call Me Maybe, and Tonight Tonight. ;0)

That TS song? Makes me what to pull my teeth out with a pair of pliers...one by one. I detest that song and I usually am a TS fan. Blech!

I love Taylor Swift...but her new song is HORRID. I can't imagine why she or whatever experts she has working for her EVER thought that song was a good idea. She never ever EVER shouldve released that pile of crap! LOL

Great take on the list. I do have to say that you cannot overplay Bohemian Rhapsody... love that song! Also, I did initially dislike the new Taylor Swift song it seems to be growing on me a bit!
BARNEY. I can't get away from him. Papa introduced him to Moose several months ago, and Moose is OBSESSED, and I've got the I Love You, You Love Me song worm.

I love this list! I'd probably add Call Me Maybe, but yours is perfect as is. I am fearful to admit I like the We Are Never Getting Back Together song. But that's just because I am a scorn woman. Lol.
Thank God someone finally added that Taylor Swift song! Its god awful! I have to agree with the rest, although this Call Me Maybe everyone is talking about is pretty bad. And my son loves the Muppet version of Bohemian Rhapsody Its pretty cute!
Yes to all. But Celine Dion is my all time worse. I feel like boarding titanic just to get away from her songs!!
What a great idea!!! I think I would have had a much easier time doing this. The only song that made me go "really?" was Celebration. Otherwise a thumbs up...double thumbs up to Barney. Ugh!
Love that you included Barney! We don't do Barney at our house! LOL. I almost listed ten songs from my son's Fresh Beat Band CD, but decided to go the extra ten miles and list my own songs (I actually chose ten albums!).
