But first the good news - our house deal closed! WOOOHOOO!
Phew, had to get that out there. We had an amazing financing/mortgage/lender guy who cut through lots of red tape that I find annoying anyway, and got things done to close our deal in record time. Even our agent complimented him on getting it done when several doubted he could.
So now we have keys. New keys, in fact, since we just had the locks re-keyed today. But we also have a dirty house. Tomorrow we have a cleaning person and a carpet cleaner coming, a refrigerator and bed being delivered, and the cable company coming to install our internet service. And we have approximately 134 things to get done.
But back to the dirty house. I decided to take on the kitchen myself so that when we started moving things in, it would be ready for boxes to be unloaded. I'm not sure the one cleaning lady that was referred to us can really get to all that needs to be done in one day, so taking on the kitchen is a pretty big chunk she doesn't have to worry about and she can concentrate on the ever important bathrooms, bedrooms, blinds, windows, etc. I've been assured she does a wonderful job and can get to all these things.
It all went well until I got to the range. Ah, my range. I was so excited to be getting this upgraded gas range in my kitchen. And then I took a closer look.
Baked on ICK.
It took an entire SOS pad, half a magic eraser, lots of Simple Green, and the skin off my finger tips to get 80% of the baked on Ick off of the area around one burner. I was wearing gloves! And that doesn't include the cooking grates, which have been soaking for the last eight hours.
Did I mention Ick?
Moving in soon,
